PKMI

PKMI is a abbreviation of Perkumpulan Kontrasepsi Mantap Indonesia (The Indonesian Association for Secure Contraception), founded in Jakarta on Februry 16, 1974 based on notarial act number 11 on September 4, 1981 signed by Ms. Subagio Reksodipuro. This is a private independent profesional association specfically focused on secure contraception.  PKMI is closely related to the national health development program which has competency and qualification to take the role through the Minister of  Health Decree number 08 year 2000 on medical contraception services operative method.

To become professional organization, notable and self-supporting in the secure contraception programs in the year 2010 by majoring quality for the client safety and satisfaction.

ACTIVITIES

1. To develop of standard contraception services and training in mini-laparotomy, tubal oclussion laparoscopy, non-scalpel vasectomy; implant and IUD's

2. To provide national and international medical technical training on contraception for health providers;

3. To conduct research on medical and non-medical aspects of contraception;

4. To conduct quality assurance program on contraception;

5. To establish and promote cooperative relationship with domestic as well as foreign governmental instances and social organizations;

6. To undertaken coordination as far as possible in the field of surgical contraception activities;

7. To undertaken other activities with a view to achieving purpose and objectives which are not at varience with the principles and purpose of PKMI.

MEMBERSHIP

PKMI membership is open to all strata of the Indonesian community who have attained the age of 21 years and have developing surgical contraception. It membership (more than 3,000) consists of physicians, specialists, paramedics and psychologist in the field of reproductive health. The membership extends to 24 provinces of 34 in Indonesia.

ORGANIZATION

The PKMI organization consists of a Central Executive Board domicilied in Jakarta. Branch Executive Boards who are located in regions. PKMI in 2008 has 24 registered Branches in Nangro Aceh Darussalam, North Sumatera, West Sumatera, Riau, Jambi, South Sumatera, Bengkulu, Lampung, Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Central Java, D.I. Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi and South East Sulawesi.

For the training activities, PKMI has 11 Training Centers (TC) located in Medan (North  Sumatera), Padang (West Sumatera), Palembang (South Sumatera), Jakarta (Jakarta), Bandung (West Java), Semarang (Cental Java), Yogyakarta (Yogyakarta), Surabaya (East Java), Denpasar (Bali), Ujung Pandang (South Sulawesi), Manado (North Sulawesi) and 7 Sub Training Centers (STC) located in Riau (Riau), Jambi (Jambi), Bengkulu (Bengkulu), Lampung (Lampung), Serang (Banten), Samarinda (East Kalimantan), Banjarmasin (South Kalimantan) and Pontianak (West Kalimantan).

PKMI organizatioal structure:

1.  A Legislative Body which is the supreme organizational body, consisting of a Congress the National level and the Meetings of Members at the Branch level.

2.   An Excecutive Body who carries out daily executive actions for PKMI, consisting of a Central Exceutive Board at the National level and Branch Executive Board at the Branch level.

3.   An Advisory Body who provides advisory services to the Cenral Executive Board in the implementation of daily PKMI task, consisting of Membership and Nominating Commitee, Program and Budgeting Committee, Legal Committee, Information, Education Committee, Medical Committee, Education and Training Committee and Research Committee.

In 1976 PKMI became Member of the World Federation for Voluntary Surgical Contraception (WFVSC) which is an international organization having its activities in the field of voluntary surgical contraception with Secretariat domicilied in New York, N.Y., USA.

To execute all of activity, PKMI obtain; get fund aid from all sort of party.
